Who We Are
The Wales Cancer Partnership has been established to improve research collaboration in Wales. It aims to foster closer relationships between all cancer organisations in Wales, bringing together all our voices for the benefit of current and future cancer patients, their families and communities. The partnership includes higher education institutions, NHS health boards, patient & public representatives, the third sector, and pharmaceutical companies.
We will bring our partners together to decide how best we can work together to enhance existing and developing strengths in cancer research in Wales. Driven by the Wales Cancer Research Centre, the Partnership will bring people together across the nation with an open and inclusive approach.
The Partnership will help establish a better connected community working to fight cancer. It will provide a greater understanding of the scope of current research infrastructure and identify Wales’ unique strengths and gaps to enable informed planning.
Our unified cancer voice will help to consult and inform research and cancer policy. Together we can ensure cancer priorities and research funding stay firmly on the political agenda. Not only this, but coming together will avoid duplication of effort and resources and promote Wales’ research reputation.
We can also ensure a better future for people working in cancer care and research by making Wales more attractive to clinicians and academics, enhancing career opportunities and ensuring succession planning.
The list of those currently committed to the partnership can be found on the Partnership tab on the menu above. We warmly invite you to get involved in our work. If you would like to find out more, please contact us at WCP@Cardiff.ac.uk.
